Liliane Nedjar has carried out an exhaustive recension, concerning the only Jewish community in Tunisia, based on all the issues of La Dépêche Tunisienne available online.
The site of the National Library of Tunisia offers nearly 7,250 issues covering 25 years between 1889 and 1940. That of the National Library of France (Gallica) provides more than 1,700 issues covering seven years between 1896 and years 1949 and 1950.
This unpublished work constitutes a very important source for the genealogy of the Tunisian Jews, as well by the contribution of precise data of civil status as by death announcements, or even of detailed articles relating in particular various facts, such as weddings or funerals of prominent figures of the Community.
Through their innumerable information, these statements are absolutely necessary to complement to the databases accessible on the site of the Cercle de Généalogie Juive (BECANE, BIKETTE, REGIE).
