The Jewish comunty of Lunbéville, originally made up of families from Metz and Alsace, developed after 1871 with the incorporation of Jews who wished to remain French. The golden age, between 1872 and 1914, accompanied the upward mobility of families from small towns and the arrival of the first emigrants from Eastern Europa. Howewer, with departure to regional capitals, to Paris and to America has begun a decline just before the WWI which was increased thereafter.
