Shabbat Shalom! I’m sorry, I cannot speak French. My great great grandmother and 3 of her brothers immigrated to New York City from Kalisz, Poland in the early 1900s. One of the brothers received a passport in 1921, and said he would be traveling to France to visit a sister. He was Hirsz Markowski, but later changed his name to Harry Markel. The sister would have been Markowska, before she married. I don’t know her married name, or anything about her. It is possible her first name is Sala, but maybe not. I was told the sisters who stayed in Europe married orthodox or Hasidic men. How can I discover this sister?
