 Bernard LYON-CAEN describes the tribulations for the fixing of his patronymic, from the birthday of his great-grand-father (surname : CAÏN, given name : Lyon) on April 4, 1795 to the present and definitive LYON-CAEN. This long and fascinating story became to an end onf March 13, 1944 !

The author describes the odyssey of his grandmother’s family, Jeanne Alice Grumbach, from the beginning of the 18th century in Upper Alsace to Paris in 1872 when Jews from Alsace choose French nationality after their birthplace was annexed by Prussia.
