In order to ask a question, fill out the form. After being approved by the moderator, your question  will be posted on this site. The moderator will check that it complies with the Netiquette rules and that it is relevant to our Cercle's fields of interest. All messages are published with the signature of their authors, e.g. Jacques DUFOUR (Belgium-CGJ member).

Any answers will be posted shortly after your own question, but be patient, they might only come after several days or weeks.

The "Cercle de Genealogie Juive" is a non-profit association to promote exchange of genealogical information. We do not provide "turnkey" genealogy and do not make any extensive investigation neither for free nor for a charge. Nevertheless, some of us will be happy to make some research for you on behalf of our society if you are a member or if you join us. Anyway, if you were satisfied with our help, help us yourself by becoming a member or making a donation. As a member, you can better enjoy our experience but we do enjoy yours!.

How to use this form:
Start your question (or answer) with the subject, followed by a period and a space e.g. Subject: SERNAN Family.
Finish by indicating in the text, just after the last word of your question or your answer, your name, country of residence and, possibly, if you are a member or not, e.g. Jacques Dufour (Belgium-CGJ member)
If you give the address of a Web site, always start with http://

Many users ask us if any surname is Jewish. Generally, this question has no answer because the same name can be worn by Jews or non-Jews as well. However, there are names often worn by Jews and other names rarely worn by Jews. The only serious method consists in building his family tree until indisputable documents are found. We can help you in this task if you join the CGJ.
