HOW USE THE CGJ'S CATALOGUECatalogue's description The catalogue has 9 columns: The first column gives the location (Lieu). A city or a village (e.g. Altkirch), a region (e.g. Alsace), a country (e.g. Belgique), the whole world (Monde). For a general subject, the word “indifferent” is used. Beware, city names are given in French! The second, if filled, gives the number of the French “Département”.
The third gives the reference
code (Cote) which also indicates the type of document: The fourth (Origine/Auteur) gives either the author or the abridged title of the review, the issue number and the first page of the article. The fifth (Publ.) gives the year when the document was published. The
sixth (Sujet) gives a general idea of the subject of the item, in order to
clarify the title: The seventh (Titre)gives the title and the language. If not given, French is used. The eighth (N.p) gives the number of pages. The ninth (Dates) gives the year or the time range covered in the document.
How to proceed for a search on line You can look for a document by using one or several criteria, but, beware, you will find only the items fulfilling all criteria. - Quite often, it is sufficient to indicate the location (lieu). If you are not sure about the spelling, you can try a portion of the name only. The “departement” number can also be useful. - if not, try a word of the title (titre) or a portion of it. You might for instance try the surname you are looking for. if you know the author’s name (auteur) or the abridged name of the journal concerned, this a good criterion. Don't
